From the Road Trippin’ Desk:
WHERE YOU AT, TRAVELIN’ MAN? I’ve found my way to Sociable Cider Werks in Minneapolis.
AND WHAT HAVE YOU IN YOUR GRIMY PAW? I’ve got their Spoke Wrench.
BIKE REPAIR? I THOUGHT BICYCLES WERE MURDER ON YOUR GROIN. No, I’m not doing bike repair. I’m drinking.
OH OF COURSE. SO WHAT IS IT? It’s the love child of a cider and a stout.
MADNESS! Yes. The website says that it’s made with “a blend of the Midwest’s best apples and a hearty stout brewers wort that we then ferment using a traditional English ale yeast.” And it rolls in at 6.8% ABV.
HOW DOES IT TASTE? The nose is all tart apple. Autumn, perhaps? The flavor is apple, a little molasses, and some roasty malt.
INTRIGUING. WHERE CAN I FIND IT? Only in the Twin Cities, from the looks of it. There’s the tap room, of course, and a selection of area bars and restaurants. If you’re not in the area, you’re SOL.
DAMN. GOOD THING YOU FOUND IT. Yep. Thankfully, I took the flyer from the Realtor™, otherwise I never would’ve found this place. Continuing the MPLS theme, there’s a sweet patio, a food truck, some foosball, and a pétanque court. If you like ciders like I do, I highly recommend this place.
(Thanks again to Matt, who has a perfectly nice bike he never rides.)
