THE BEER: Ale Asylum‘s Bedlam
WHAT IS IT? An IPA brewed with Trappist yeast.
WTF DOES THAT MEAN? Wellsir, Trappist yeast is used to brew Trappist beer. Which is brewed by Trappist monks. Obviously.
THAT’S NOT TERRIBLY HELPFUL. Sorry. Think Belgian beer. The yeast brings a fruity, zesty flavor to the party.
AH. SO WHERE ARE YOU? The Old Fashioned, which is not at all unusual.
HOW IS IT? Stellar. It’s got zip! Zing! Zest! Moxie! It’s delicious and refreshing, with a floral aroma and a balanced fruity flavor. Plus we’re rolling at 7.5% ABV.
WHAT DOES “BEDLAM” MEAN, ANYWAY? Crazy-ass nonsense. Mayhem. Madness. It stems from the Bedlam Royal Hospital, which was, as you may have guessed, a place for crazy people.
NOW I KNOW. And knowing is half the battle.
SERIOUSLY? YOU’RE GOING OUT ON A G. I. JOE REFERENCE? Hell yes.
