BEEN A WHILE, SLACKER. It has been, yes. Mea culpa. But I’m back in the saddle, and soon will escape the torpor of everyday life for a brief respite in the great north woods of Wisconsin.
SO A WEEKEND FULL OF HAMM’S, SCHLITZ, AND OLD MILWAUKEE IS ON THE HORIZON. Yes indeed. So why not enjoy something with actual flavor before heading down that path?
I’VE HEARD OF 60 MINUTE… Yes, the IPA that’s continually hopped for 60 minutes. This is that. But not.
DO TELL. This is the 60 Minute IPA brewed with syrah grape must.
MUST? Freshly pressed grape juice that contains the skins, seeds, and stems. I had to look it up.
HOW IS IT? It’s excellent. I was expecting kind of a trainwreck, to be honest. I figured the aroma would be overly hoppy and the flavor would be unpleasantly sour. But in fact this is a very balanced beer. The hops are restrained and the grapes give the whole thing a very pleasant tart finish.
LOOKS PRETTY, TOO. Why yes, it does. And at 6.5% ABV, it probably won’t get me too trashed.
