THE BEER: Coney Island Geektoberfest

WHERE: Dexter’s Pub

WHAT IS IT? Damn, I don’t really know. The name would indicate an Oktoberfest, eh? Wait, let me look at the beer list… here we go, “a blend of barrel-aged Human Blockhead, barrel-aged Lenny RIPA, and Jewbelation Bar Mitzvah.” Interesting.

IS TIM TEBOW ON TV RIGHT NOW? Sadly, yes.

IS IT GOOD? The televised Tebow?

NO, THE BEER: It’s… interesting. There are definitely sour notes that intersect with more savory elements. It’s strangely reminiscent of worcestershire sauce, which I don’t mean as a bad thing. But it’s an odd blend, and you’d better like sour beers.

HOW MUCH? $4 for a 5 oz pour, $7.50 for a 10 oz pour.

DEEP THOUGHTS: I went into this one completely blind — just saw the name and figured, “How can you go wrong with something called Geektoberfest?” it’s got a lot going on, and I don’t expect to have two in a row, but it’s definitely worth trying.
