Instant Beer Review: Hinterland Luna Coffee Stout

WHERE’RE YOU TODAY, MY GOOD MAN? I’m downtown at Graze.

HAVING LUNCH? Yup, and a delicious beverage.

WOULD YOU CARE TO ELABORATE? Sure. I am partaking in Hinterland’s Luna Coffee Stout.

YOU APPEAR TO BE THE ONLY PERSON AT THE BAR. I’m a tall drink of water; I need to stretch my shit out.

YOU’RE NOT AT ALL TALL. I’ve got a big heart.

LET’S GET BACK TO THE BEER. Let’s. The beer is great–a very drinkable, dark stout. One of my go-to brews from Hinterland Brewing (They’re out of Green Bay, WI, by the way). The coffee aspect is subtle, and it finishes with a nice, creamy, chocolatey texture. The body of the beer is heavy, but the 5.8% ABV won’t put you in the hole too quickly. The Luna Stout is a perfect winter warmer, great for getting faded in front of the fireplace.

IF THAT’S THE CASE, WHY ARE YOU DRINKING A STOUT ON A DAY LIKE THIS? I don’t know, frankly. It’s 70 degrees out and sunny, but I just felt like a stout for lunch. And it paired pretty well with the fish cakes (w/ sauteed cucumbers, dill, Meyer lemon, potato chips, frisee, herb-caper creme fraiche) I just put in my face.

YOU’RE FANCY. I know, dude. I know.

DEEP THOUGHTS? I no longer have sole control of the bar, and the girl seated to my right has the biggest rock I have ever seen perched upon her ring finger. That, and the most annoying voice on the face of the planet. It’s seriously soul-piercing.

THAT’S ALL YOU’VE GOT? I need a nap.
