GUEST POST! The OverServed Vacation Desk with another report from our neighbor to the north.

HELLO. Salut!

STILL ACTING ALL FOREIGN-Y, EH? Yes, the wife and I are still enjoying the many pleasures that Montréal has to offer.

AND HOW IS THE CITY OF 100 STEEPLES? Well, it’s still hot as H-E-double-hockey-sticks, so I wanted some AC and a beer.

WHICH HAS BROUGHT YOU WHERE? We have found our way to Le Cheval Blanc.

CAN’T UNDERSTAND A WORD. I love this place; we try to stop each time we trek up here.

CARE TO DESCRIBE IT? It’s dive-y in the most wonderful way, and they brew their own beer. For those in the Madison viewing area, it’s a brewpub version of Mickey’s.

SURELY YOU HAVE A BEER IN HAND. I have the Mini Wheat IPA.

AND HOW IS IT? Well, in a word, fantastic. The nose is a mix of citrus and yeast. Upon drinking, there is a touch of breadiness, but that citrus really pops. It’s essentially the lighter, slightly yeasty brother of Gumballhead.

A SLIGHTLY YEASTY BROTHER? My brother The Rick is very yeasty.

SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT. WHAT’S THE ABV? At 4%, I would drink this all damn day.

DEEP THOUGHTS. If you haven’t been to the French portion of ‘Murica Junior, I can’t recommend it enough. And if you do get up here, go to Le Cheval Blanc. It’s a bit off the beaten path but totally worth it.

Thanks to Matt, who is also rather yeasty when it comes right down to it.
