Sure, Why Not: Star Trek Klingon Beer

032914

Filling a demand that I didn’t know existed, a Star Trek-themed beer is about to invade your liquor stores. Specifically, it’s a “Klingon Warnog,” which is actually a Dunkelweizen brewed by Tin Man Brewing out of Evansville, Indiana.

Warnog’s aroma is predominantly mild banana and clove produced by the German wheat yeast, supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt. The flavor draws heavily from the blending of the rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor. The inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making this Dunkelweizen hearty enough to be called… a Klingon Warnog.

I didn’t know Klingons were beer drinkers, but hey, why not. If this stuff sells, they really should hook up with a distillery and create some Star Trek scotch. Why? Because of the 1968 episode “By Any Other Name,” of course…
