Intricately designed tap handles are, of course, a tried and true way for brewers to reinforce their brand’s identities, to leverage their core competencies, and to catch the eyes of the booze-befuddled. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes they go too far. I give you… the Leinie’s Big Eddy tap handle:
That’s not a tap handle, it’s a shillelagh. And a study I just made up has conclusively proven that the larger and more overdone the tap handle, the worse the beer is. Make a note of it.
